In the women's K-1 finals of the "Good Luck Beijing" Canoe/Kayak Slalom Open on August 19, Li Jingjing won China's first bronze medal in the women's canoe/kayak slalom. "I'm so happy to have won the medal," said Li after the race, "and wish I could do even better in the near future."

Although this was the first time I competed in an international canoe/kayak slalom tournament held in China, I felt quite at ease, with so many spectators supporting me throughout the race," she added.

Talking about her German coach Valik, she said, "As Valik has just come to China, we are still running in. With the passage of time I think we'll be able to find out what's best for both of us."

Li Xin, team manager of the Chinese canoe/kayak slalom team, spoke highly of what Li Jingjing had achieved today. "I think the bronze medal shows Li Jingjing's real strength. Of course, the result is also inseparable from the help of her foreign coach."
