The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Canoe/Kayak Slalom Open entered the third day of competition, with the heats for both the men's C-2 and women's K-1.
In the men's C-2, the Hochschorner brothers from Slovakia, world No. 1 pair, advanced to the semifinals with ease after two runs. After the races, Peter Hochschorner said, "We must pass the tests of the World Championships and Olympic selective trials before we can finally qualify for next year's Olympic Games. I believe we can make it."
Talking about today's races, Peter Hochschorner said, "We had to deal with at least three or four problems in our first run. However, The water here is warm, and the environment for the race is excellent."
As world No. 1 the Hochschorners have naturally become the strongest title contenders in the current event. "We are here to win," Peter Hochschorner said, "and we also come to get used to the course." He also showed great interest in Beijing's scenic spots. "We've been here in Beijing for 10 days and have never got any time for sightseeing. Maybe next time when we come for the Olympic Games we will have more time for that."
The Hochschorners are one of the three pairs of brothers in the current canoe/kayak open. Over the years they have achieved many good results through close teamwork. |
