In the men's K-1 1000m final held this afternoon, British kayakist Tim Brabants claimed the first gold medal at the 2007 Canoe/Kayak Flatwater Open with a time of 3:33.882. Ben Fouhy of New Zealand and Eirik Vearas Larsen of Norway took the silver and bronze medals respectively.
