In the men's K-2 500m semifinal of the 2007 Canoe/Kayak Flatwater Open held on August 24, the New Zealand pair Ben Fouhy/Steven Ferguson placed first with a result of 1:34.176 to enter the finals together with a French pair and a Polish pair who finished second and third respectively.

Though the Chinese pair only placed fifth, the spectators enthusiastically cheered them on in spite of the burning sun, which turned out to be a moving scene in this Open tournament.
