German Dittmer paddles off with men's C-1 500m title

On August 26, the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Canoe/Kayak Flatwater Open saw its last day of competitions in fine rain. In the final of the men's C-1 500m, Andreas Dittmer, an ace German paddler, won the championship with 1:48.623, followed by Nikolay Lipkin of Russian in Lane 8 with 1:49.460.

China's Yang Wenjun, in Lane 6, got the bronze medal with a time of 1:49.518, or 0.895 second behind the champion.

After the race Yang Wenjun, winner of the C-2 500m at Athens Olympic Games, said that besides getting used to the course for next year's Olympic Games he had learned a lot through competing in the Beijing open and would further improve his performance in the days to com.
