The second-day competition of the "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Canoe/Kayak Flatwater Open was staged on August 24. In the three semifinals this morning, a total of nine paddlers were qualified for the finals, including five European paddlers. None of the Chinese paddlers ranked top three in the semifinals so as to be eliminated out of the finals.

The semifinal of the men's K-1 1,000m event was extremely intense. The gap between the top three kayakers was about 0.3s only, who were Rubenstrin Shaun Martin from South Africa, Zupancic Regent Jernej from Slovenia and Benko Zoltan from Hungary with their respective results as 3:37:862, 3:38:194 and 3:38:242. The Chinese kayaker Shen Jie finished eighth only with a result of 3:47:294. The best result of this event in the heats was 3:38:770 created by the British kayaker Tim.

The top three placers of the semifinal of the men's C-1 1,000m event were Zhukouski Aliaksandr from Byelorussia, Malloch Jordan from USA and Vajda Attila from Hungary with their respective results as 4:05:447, 4:05:467 and 4:06:015. The Byelorussian veteran canoeist Aliaksandr, first placer of the semifinals, was also qualified for the final of the men's C-1 500m event from the heats yesterday, whose strength can be rated as outstanding. Remarkably, the Chinese canoeist Li Qiang was regrettably eliminated out of the final by finishing fourth with a result of 4:06:447 in the semifinal, 0.332s slower than the third placer.

In the semifinal of the men's K-2 1,000m event, the Australian pair Robinson Clint/Baker Reece had a clear advantage and finished first with a result of 3:21:353, 1.77s faster than the second placer-the Canadian pair Dober Junior Richard/Willows Andrew, while the Czech pair Horsky Ondrej/Jezek Tomas finished third in the semifinal with a result of 3:23:641. Additionally, the Chinese pair Wang Wei/Zhang Jidian finished fifth with a result of 3:26:385 to be knocked out of the final.
